Parked the car here and walked up to Kek Lok Si.

Kek Lok Si, or Temple of Supreme Bliss, is the largest and best prominent temple in Penang. The temple itself consists of several large halls for assembly and prayer, statues of Buddha, various Bodhisattvas as well as Chinese gods are being venerated.

Taking the inclined lift up.

From the main prayer hall we walked to another hall and went through the souvenir shop in order to take the "inclined lift" up to further uphill where the new prayer hall and Guan Yin statue are located. We paid the voluntary donation (for the construction fee of the temple) of RM2 to go up.

An ornate shelter for Guan Yin (or Goddess of Mercy) is under construction. Four carved dragon pillars are being built, the concentric roof was inspired by classical Ming architecture, reminiscent of the roof of Prayer Hall in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, China.


FuFu had been to the Temple of Heaven in 2007.


FuFu made a wish here by burning the joss sticks.


Wish it had already delivered to Guan Yin Ma.


The temple straddles a hillside overlooking the town of Ayer Itam.


And Georgetown beyond that.


Kek Lok Si. Sayonara. FuFu will be back.

Penang Laksa - had been long awaited FuFu to try it.


Fried spring rolls? FuFu couldn't relate it with laksa. Put it aside.


Let FuFu try the authetic Penang Laksa first.

The laksa soup is thick with fish meat and nice to the last drop. Erm, what can i say? Well, it's special, the sweet and sour based soup really has a bite. Firm springy rice noodle, crunchy cucumber slices and the fried spring rolls add to the amazing mixture of this simple classic dish. RM3? One more bowl please.


Penang laksa is even more scrumptious with fried spring rolls.


The thirst quencher had longan, lychee, jelly, sweet potato, etc.


Akira dropped FuFu off at the Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal.

Penang, the Pearl of the Orient, is one of the loveliest places i have been to. Its natural beauty and rich history and diversity culture have totally been attracted me from the first day i stepped on the island. Georgetown, the UNESCO World Heritage city is very much an exotic mix of the old and new, East and West. For sheer variety of locales, culture, history and food, Penang is still hard to beat.


Hopped on another bus in Ipoh back to my hometown.

Need to specially mention my Penang host Akira, he is a great online buddy i have met in this wonderful blogging platform - Blogger. Having a very diverse network of friends spanning all corners of this planet, i have never met up blogger who showed me around here in Malaysia.
