Parade of Cultures - Part I
FuFu Life in Frankfurt - Part Twenty Five
26th June 2010 | Parade der Kulturen I
A stage of performers from different nations such as China, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, Mexico, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Turkey, Nepal, etc snaking through the city centre on June 26th to express their cultural identity and offer a magnificent show of colours, costumes, music, dance. Frankfurt held Parade der Kulturen (Parade of Cultures) for the 8th time on 26th June.
The vibrant parade marched through the central streets of the city at 12noon and ended in the square at Hauptwache at 2pm for the first round. Kudos to all participants of the parade who really performed the core of their folk culture. The city centre was packed with dozens of photographers and hundreds of onlookers. At the end of the parade, everyone had a chance to taste various cuisines at the booths. In the evening, one can enjoy the concerts of different musical and dance bands until late night.
This event was managed by Frankfurt youth organisations, clubs and foreigners offices and was the demonstration of intercultural friendliness and respect between the foreign residents of Frankfurt. The parade is considered a sign to show to whom Frankfurt really belongs - a city that understand itself as a city of all nations - the international city.
The food stall from Fo Guang Shan, Taiwan.
Hey, Malaysia has a booth here! Malaysia Boleh. :)
Here the parade started!
The Frankfurt Youth Social Organisation.
They played good!
Representative from Bangladesh.
The mascot of Shanghai World Expo came to Frankfurt too!
Representatives from China.
Check out the video.
Tai Chi Kung Fu!
Cheongsam suits Caucasian ladies too.
Beautiful!
The Angel!
Oh my Buddha, she is gorgeous.
China had done a great job!
Check out the video!
So the next was Vietnam!
This is the Ao Dai Culture.
Check out my previous visit to Vietnam!
Nice costumes!
Do, Re, Mi...
Cute!
Next is the parade from Bali, Indonesia.
A very funny Balinese dance!
Karate kids!
Nepal. Hat off for to the two of them!
Representatives of one of the musical clubs in Frankfurt.
The Arena of Latin America.
Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile.
Peru, Bolivia, Venezuela, Ecuador, etc.
Wow, sexy!
Ouch, XXL.
Well, i am quite disappointed the Truly Asia - Malaysia didn't take part showing off its unique and vibrant multi-cultural dances and costumes to the Europeans since the neighbouring countries like Indonesia and Vietnam did it pretty nice. Probably the number of Malaysians living in Frankfurt was extremely few. Anyway anyway, it was my ever first cultural parade. It was superb! I simply love all dances but particularly impressed with the performance from China and Indonesia. The dances from Latin America were too small scale (luckily i am going to attend the Samba Carnival next year in Brazil!)
Check out the video!
The Commerzbank Tower - the tallest building in Europe.
The Main Tower, used to be the highest building in Frankfurt.
***********************************************
One of the climaxes of the parade! Stay tuned for Part II.

I'm impressed with Indonesia and Vietnam and disappointed with Malaysia. You have a lot to offer and I think so many Europeans don't know anything about your country. We know Thailand, China, Japan, Korea. Even Bali is famous. But Malaysia is not. You need more presence in Europe and such parades would be a great and very cheap advertizement. I'm sure the story went viral. And great photos, FuFu. Looking fwd to the next part.
Awesome! Life is so wonderful & colorful and what a great occasion. Thankz for sharing the pixz and videos they are lovely. Btw tQ for giving the one vote to Bananaz truly appreciate it very much it's a very tough battle..
好棒!求同存异!

Frankfurt is so HAPPENING! The cultural performances from different Asian ethnic groups is simply BRILLIANT & FANTASTIC!
Fufu said "The parade is considered a sign to show to whom Frankfurt really belongs - a city that understand itself as a city of all nations - the international city". This is really touching! We should learn how to admire and even love our differences. Celebrate diversity!!!
I wish I was there! The colors, costumes and people. NOW, that's what I call TRULY ASIA! Malaysia is now miles behind country like Germany.
Cheers!
It seems like a multi cultural melting pot!! And a great exposure indeed!! :)
How come your little tiger wasn't in the pictures this time? Hehehe....
first time see so many lenglui in the parade.. Wi-u-wit :)
What a nice international parade! I love all the costumes! So colorful and vibrant!
