FuFu Exploring Latin America
Chile - Part Two | 31st Dec 2010 - 6th Jan 2011

When i was camwhoring, there was a family taking pictures next to me. The offered to take me picture with the poster at the entrance of the park. Nice poeple.

Parque Metropolitano de Santiago, Santiago, Chile.

10:21am - 03/01/2011 - 28°C

The main attraction of the park is the statue of Cristobal at the summit. Before 1pm, the only way to get up there is by foot because the furnicular car only operates at 1pm. The lady at the information told me it would take me 2hrs to get up there but it is in fact only 30-40mins. Anyway i got a map of the park from her. Going to hike up to the summit.

An alternative to get up there besides car and by foot, is mountain bike. lol But if you go with me, i will bring you up very quickly because i know where is the shortcut. lol

FuFu and little FuFu in front of the statue of Cristobal. Cristobal is exactly like our Guan Yin Ma. The statue is standing majestically at the summit.

I was sweating alot.

No DSLR? I still can play with the sun with my DC.

The memorial of Madre de Santiago

12:42am - 03/01/2011 - 28°C

Though the sun is RED. But you wont feel hot at the summit. I spent almost an hour and half enjoying the view of the whole city. Slowlly observing how the city being built, developed, planned and designed. Also how green the city is. How the density is along the avenue. Oh my god... it definitely help seeing it myself instead of having the case study from journal or book. Awesome.

12:38pm - 03/01/2011 - 28°C

I took the funicular down. From the park, i walked around a nice neighbour with a lot of awesome graffiti. Personally like the shops painted so nicely like this. Come to this neighbourhood if you like graffiti. You should spend 2hrs walking around zig-zaggedly like FuFu. Sure you would find something awesome you like.

Barrio Bellavista, Santiago, Chile.

1:35pm - 03/01/2011 - 28°C

The owner of this mini market saw me taking pictures of his market. He asked where am i from and quickly wanna shake hand with me once i replied. Thus i also reacted fast and snapped an picture with him.

I am drinking water more than the average amount we all need (2litres), because it is very dry and hot currently in Latin America. I guess i consume almost 4litres of tap water everyday here in Santiago. Tap water? Yes, it is yummilicious here. Well i am actually doing what the local do. Oh no, the water from Andes is oishii.

Parque Forestal, Santiago, Chile.

3:46pm - 03/01/2011 - 28°C

Snack+rest time at the park. You can see many couples, be young or old, coming to the park dating. Lying down on the grass... though it is hot, under the shade, you wont feel the heat. Phew...

Parque Forestal, Santiago, Chile.

4:12pm - 03/01/2011 - 28°C

Part of the city i like the most. Will definitely come here everyday before heading back to the hostel.

Plaza de Armas, Santiago, Chile.

8:12pm - 03/01/2011 - 23°C

It was Santiago a Mil festival last night, started at 9pm. OMG, the backdrop was too good. Everyone was heading to the stage for the musical show later. The tower is Torre Entel. The show was way too nice. Will upload the videos later ya.

Presidential Palace, Santiago, Chile.

8:33pm - 03/01/2011 - 22°C

Basically i have seen almost all about Santiago, well all tourist attractions mentioned on the map. I asked the staff where should i go before i depart to Valparaiso. He suggested me to visit a new city centre. After breakfast, i took subway to the east of the city. A lovely neighbourhood, public transportation is totallly integrated with mixed land use planning, road network, parks and social stuff.

Santiago, Chile.

11:01am - 04/01/2011 - 25°C

The typical Chilean statue at a park. Well, cant see the real stuff now, picture first.

Actually i didnt sleep well last night. The roommates were too noisy. A couple came back at 2am. And two hikers woke up early at 5am. DAMN.

Santiago, Chile.

Lunch time at a park.

Santiago, Chile.

12:52pm - 04/01/2011 - 25°C

Another corner of the new city centre with all these high rise office buildings. Later i visited the largest shopping mall in Santiago which just on the right side of the picture.

Santiago, Chile.

1:36pm - 04/01/2011 - 25°C

How could FuFu not sitting on the bench and resting more for the rest of the trip?

Santiago, Chile.

3:25pm - 04/01/2011 - 25°C

I walked all the way from the new city centre to the downtown. It took me 2hrs plus. It was a scenic journey though. Along the way, i saw many awesome skyscarppers. Taking rest is a must. Because i still have a long journey to go.

Santiago, Chile.

5:07pm - 04/01/2011 - 25°C

Back to downtown. To quench my thrist, i bought a typical Chilean juice - copikue, from a type of flower, with local barley and peach. Nice.

Santiago, Chile.

6:16pm - 04/01/2011 - 25°C

The Santiago a Mil is still going on. Well after checking it out, it will continue until end of the month. Since it would be my last night in Santiago, so i decided to stay longer at the downtown instead of going back earlier. The square was packed with people.

Santiago, Chile.

8:22pm - 04/01/2011 - 23°C

After this shot, i realised that my wallet was not in my pocket. I quickly ran back to way i walked to this point. I couldnt find my wallet. Then i head back to hostel. Got online to seek help from friends to block my credit card. After my calculation and double checking, there was Chilean Peso 30000++ (RM200++ US dollar 70). But my Hiroshima University student card will not come back to me anymore. SAD.

Santiago, Chile.

9:07pm - 04/01/2011 - 22°C

Actually i brought along my HSBC debit card applied in Curitiba, Brazil too. I had it blocked by my best Curitiban friend Tatiana. The following day, i immediately go to the bank for some encashment in US Dollar to travel in Peru.

Agustinas, Santiago, Chile

9:12am - 05/01/2011 - 26°C

DAMN. FuFu lost his credit card!

What a pain losing the credit card. I hope there weren't any unauthorized transactions.
