FuFu Travel - Exploring Ecuador III

Arrived the bus terminal at 6am. The appointment with Fabricio's sister was 7.30am. Hungry, so i bought this breakfast (coffee and croissant with cheese + ham) from an old man sitting in front of a shop at the corner. USD1.00

The best thing is the terminal is connected with public transportation. Both trolley and metro will bring the passenger to the downtown and other parts of the city. Amazed!

Three of them had something to do. So before i started my own half day tour wandering the city, i requested for this picture.
Plaza Grande, Centro, Quito (ASL : average 2850m), Ecuador

For your information, Quito is the second highest capital in the world after La Paz, Bolivia.
The city has three different lines for 3 BRT buses - Trole Bus, Metrobus and Ecovia. But sadly, i didnt feel comfortable walking around the downtown because of the gas emitted from the diesel buses. It seriously pollutes the city and everytime when there's a bus passing by, you will see a huge black shape materializing from behind a bus rise in the road, clearly visibly. Guess the related authority has to do something to improve the air quality so everyone could enjoy walking here and there in this UNESCO historical downtown.

Tortilla con Caucara + Huevo, fried smashed sweet potato and Ecuadorian banana with beef + egg, USD 1.25.

Yummy!!!!!!

FuFu has a HUGE stomach, bear in mind!!! So that Tortilla con Caucara + Huevo couldnt really satisfy the stomach. Hence i got myself another set lunch - Seco de Pollo (dry chicken). The chicken is a dry dish that marinated and then baked in a pot with other ingredients - onions and spices. It is considered a festive dish served hot as a single dish with bean gravy and platano (cousin of Banana). The set lunch is included soup and mixed juice, only USD1.50.

Too windy on the mountain. So i took off my cap and kept it inside my bag (since the sun was hiding behind the clouds after i had taken those nice pictures), because it once nearly blown away from me, luckily i managed to save it from blowing down to the valley.

A lady was yelling at me when i was taking pictures of the horse over the backdrop of the city. I asked how much and she replied one dollar then added 'más foto' (many photos).
I nodded the next second.
Before putting up poncho, an outer garment designed to keep the body warm, created by the ancient peoples of the Andes, i requested the lady to snap this picture.

I can see a cowboy enjoying posing for the camera! Nice ones! And how was the ride? Did the horse listen to your order?

The mobilization must be getting a toll on you. A lil exhaustion noticed. Do take care and rest well, Fufu!

Wow! Thanks for all the great photos and commentary. I feel like I've almost been to Quito now, but I will definitely look toward taking a visit some day soon.

I borrowed some of your photos for a Powerpoint presentation for my Spanish III students who are learning about Ecuador. I gave you credit for the photos and linked here. Thank you!
