German was in Germany

FuFu Life in Frankfurt - Chapter Four
25th October 2009

Not even staying in Frankfurt for a month, already had a friend paid me a visit. German landed on Saturday but because of a field trip to Höchst, analysing one of the outskirts shopping malls in Frankfurt - Main Taunus Zentrum, i was not able to pick her up at the airport. Anyhow thanks God we were given the chance to meet up on Sunday before she headed to Zürich, Switzerland on the following Monday.

It was a sunny day after couples of gloomy days. Sunday (as i have mentioned here before) is a boring day everywhere in Germany. However, the yearly Commerzebank 10 km Marathon took place in the inner city on the 25th. Thus there's another extra event for us beside walking around the city while catching up with each other. I think i did my part quite well showing her around Frankfurt.

The only thing made us disappointed was we couldn't have our dinner at any local restaurant. German wanted to have the traditional Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle) meal, but ended up having yummilicious Thai cuisine. Fortunately we had tried some typical German sausages and the apple wine in the afternoon. It was a treat from German because she got €500 from her boss as her birthday gift. Thank you.

At German's room, 505, NH Frankfurt Hotel.

Saw the participants running in front of the hotel.

FuFu didn't realise the marathon was on that Sunday.

A good beginning of the day with a short photography session.

Ops, this grandpa deserves the best costume award.

Guess only my frequent readers would know who is she.

Followed the runners and we came to the river.

The skyline of Frankfurt am Main.

The icon of Frankfurt - the Römer square.

FuFu and German were at Römer square.

The fountain at Römer square.

Later, stepped in a German restaurant for brunch.

They must-try Frankfurt's apple wine.

FuFu was busying snapping pictures of the interior.

Before leaving, asked the waiter who speaks English for the picture.

FuFu showed German his favourite shopping mall.

Myzeil always looks marvelous from every single angle.

German too amazed with its stunning architecture.

Pretty German, the model of the day.

This artist really does great painting.

The continuous ringing bell lead us to this church.

Continued walking to the Old Opera direction.

The Goetheplatz.

The Geothe statue (Geothe is a renowned German poet and novelist).

German asked a good photographer for this shot. FuFu hearts this.

The resting point for the participants and visitors.

German wanna try German sausage - Bratwürst.

And FuFu had his Rindswürst.

German with German wurste (sausages).

Then, the couple moved to other direction of the inner city.

Häagen Dazs, the dessert after German wurst.

FuFu loves cookies and German hearts strawberry.

Guess what FuFu was doing on the female sculpture?

A short break before continued walking around the city.

The major streets were closed for the marathon.

Thus pictures on the streets could be taken.

Just couldn't believe German sit on the road immediately.

The couple then enjoyed taking street pictures.

Totally ignored the staring blue eyes (yeah they have blue eyes).

New poster for the movie, "Look Left Look Right II".

Ops, FuFu has a charming smile.

Okay, enough. It's time to move for another attraction.

German posing in front of Deutsch Bank.

The medieval building of Dresdner Bank.

The modern Deutsche Bank twin towers.

The Central Bank (headquarter) of the European Union Bank.

Remember, Frankfurt is the financial state of Germany.

Thus, visiting the bank office towers is also one of the attractions.

In front of the square of the European Central Bank.

Visited a sex shop at the red light district in front the rail station.

Frankfurt Haupbahnhop, one of the busiest rail stations in Europe.

The reflection from the window of ICE.

Took subway back to the river for night river view.

The best angle for Frankfurt's night view on Alte Brüke (Old Bridge).

The first and the best pictures by the river.

Bear in mind, German restaurants are all closed on Sunday.

Ended up having Thai dinner but the ambience is extremely great.

And full of German customers.

FuFu still remembers little Thai his Thai workers taught him.

FuFu made order in Thai instead of German to the Thai waitress.

German still happy though couldn't have typical German dishes.

Well, check out the pictures below what we actually had.

"Hey stop taking pictures and let's start eating."

The yummy satay with Thai prawn sauce and nuts sauce.

FuFu favourite - spring rolls.

Duck salad? FuFu's first time.

The must-not-miss tom yam kung.
